Vanessa Ferrari (ITA)

She was the first Italian gymnast to win the World all-around title in 2006 at just 15 years old. In Italy, she is also the gymnast who won the more European and World medals. And well she is six time National Champion in all-around.

What made you start gymnastics?

I started doing gymnastics when I was seven. I was watching television when I saw a gymnast on a balance beam for the first time. « Wow, I would like to be like her » I thought.

What is a typical day like?

I wake up at seven o’clock. After breakfast I go to the gym. Now, that I’m older I train four hours a day. So, when I finish my training session I usually go to my physiotherapist. I spend a lot of time for the therapies. I come back to home in the evening for the dinner.

What is your gymnastics’ best memory?

The best gymnastics’ memory is the day I won the AA gold medal at the Aarhus World Championships in 2006.

Floor exercise is the event where you won the more medals… Is it your favorite apparatus? Do you focus your goals on this apparatus for European Championships?

Yes the floor is the apparatus where I won more medals… And floor exercise and balance beam are my favorite apparatus! For the next European Championships I will focus my goals on floor exercise and on all around.

Thomas-BouhailThomas Bouhail about Vanessa : “ The elder Italian team member never lost her great energy. She has maturity in her gymnastics due to her large carrer.”
