Women’s Artistic Gymnastics is THE discipline of the FIG. Every gymnast must be graceful and explosive during their movement but also flexible and strength. You can begin Gymnastics at 18 months, 6 for competition and 14 for international competition (as a junior). It always has been an Olympic discipline.

Historical champions

– Nadia Comaneci (ROM)
Olympic Champion in 1976, she was the first gymnast on earth to obtain the perfect mark: 10.

– Svetlana Boginskaïa (BLR)
Nicknamed the “goddess of the Gymnastics” for her grace during floor exercises, she has been European Champion in 1989 and World Champion in 1989.

– Elena Schouchounova (URSS)
Olympic Champion in 1988 and World Champion in 1985, she is famous for the extreme difficulty on his exercises.

– Svetlana Khorkina (RUS)
She is the most title holder gymnast in the history. She won all existing title in uneven bars (Olympic, world and European).

– Mary-Lou Retton (USA)
We will always remember Mary-Lou because she obtained 10 on her floor exercise and 10 on vault during the 1984 Olympic Games.

– Lilya Podkopayeva (UKR)
Olympic, World and European Champion, she won each competition from 1995 to 1996.

– Simona Amanar (ROM)
An incredible list of hits for this Romanian gymnast: she has been decorated seven times during Olympic Games and 10 times during World Championship.

– Catalina Ponor (ROM)
She is another huge Romanian legend. During 2004 Olympic Games she made a hat-trick and she also won many medals during World and European Championship.

– Anastasia Liukin (USA)
With Champions as parents – her father is a previous Men Gymnastics Champion and her mother, Anna Kotchneva, is a previous rhythmic Gymnasticss Champion – Anastasia was predestined to become a famous gymnast. She won five medals during Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 including the all-around title.

– Kyla Ross (USA)
Olympic Champion in team during 2012 Olympic games and Vice-World Champion in 2013, she is currently one of the best pretender for 2016 Olympic Games.
