Danny Pinheiro-Rodrigues (FRA)

Twice European medalist on rings, Danny Pinheiro Rodrigues has a code element named after him: an inverted swallow. Only a few gymnasts can do it perfectly.

What made you start gymnastics?

I started gymnastics at the age of 5 years. It is a family tradition, my brothers and sisters also practiced gymnastics, my mother and my grandfather also.

What is a typical day like?

My son wakes me up at 7:30am. I take care of him and I take him to his nanny around 10am to go to training. I get home around 13:00 to eat and rest a bit. I go back to training around 15:00 and leave at 17:30. I go get my son, I dine around 19:30 am and go to bed at around 23:00.

What is your gymnastics’ best memory?

My best memory is my European medal on rings in 2013 because I was coming back from a shoulder surgery before the 2012 Olympics. It was an unexpected medal because it was for me just a return to international competition. Sharing the podium with Samir was also a very intense moment to live.

Do you feel more pressure with a European Championships organized in France, with the French audience?

This will be my first European Championship in France but I participated 3 times to the Paris World Cup. The French audience was great and pushed us as he knows very well our discipline.

What are your goals for this competition?

Like anyone my main goal is to reach the top. But first I have to do my job, please the audience and have fun without regrets.

Thomas-BouhailThomas Bouhail about Danny: “ Danny and I started together at the National Training Center in 2001. We shared a lot as our respective finals at the Beijing Games. He is a very talented gymnast! »
